Documentary Wedding Photography

Natural & Relaxed Storytelling

Hi! I’m Jamie McPhilimey and I’m a documentary wedding photographer from the bustling market town of Wokingham, in Berkshire, but I shoot documentary weddings all over the South-East of England.

I live with my wife Anita and my very cute, but minx of a Cockapoo, Lexi. I recently undertook a huge renovation of our Victorian house which we loved doing but glad its over and we can start enjoying it.

My favourite things in the world are travelling and snowboarding, and when I’m not shooting weddings you’ll find me out walking with the dog in our local woods.

My love of sport and people watching is what made me want to become a photographer. I was really lucky to start my photography career in sports photography over 25 years ago where I continue to shoot for the leading national newspapers and magazines.

My press and sports photography background has enabled me to develop my own unique style of documentary wedding photography. In sports photography I can’t afford to miss Usain Bolt crossing the finish line. The same applies in wedding photography, you don’t get a second chance to recreate that special moment. I can’t imagine doing anything else. The best thing about being a wedding photographer is that I get to take awesome photos and eat cake.

My couples are super relaxed, and the last thing they want is a photographer who bosses them about and takes super cheesy, posy pictures.

My wedding documentary photography style is all about storytelling in a natural and relaxed way. I capture all the fleeting, special moments, and let you get on with having a wicked wedding. For me, my favourite bit about a wedding day is the speeches, because I love a good laugh (and sometimes a cry!) – you really get the true emotions of the day at the speeches.

Your wedding is all about having a brilliant time with your favourite people. You don’t need to worry about the little things that don’t matter or the ugly chair covers – you just want to have an amazing wedding and celebrate with your friends and family.

If this sounds like you, and you reckon we’d get on then get in touch!
