Hi, I’m Jamie McPhilimey, a documentary wedding photographer based in Wokingham, Berkshire. I specialize in capturing the genuine, unposed moments of weddings throughout the South-East of England. With over 25 years of experience in photography, my approach is rooted in storytelling, ensuring that every fleeting, special moment of your wedding day is beautifully documented.
My journey into photography began with a love of sport. I was fortunate to start my career in sports photography, working with leading national newspapers and magazines. This experience honed my ability to capture split-second moments—like Usain Bolt crossing the finish line—which directly influences how I approach wedding photography. I understand the importance of not missing a single moment, because you don’t get a second chance.
My documentary style of wedding photography is all about capturing the natural, unscripted moments of your day. I believe the best photos are the ones that tell a story without interrupting the flow of your celebration. My couples are laid-back, and the last thing they want is a photographer who directs every move or demands cheesy, posed shots.
One of my favourite parts of any wedding is the speeches. They bring out the real emotions—laughter, tears, and everything in between. It’s in these moments that I find the true essence of the day, and I strive to capture those feelings in my images.

Booking a Wedding Photographer
Most couples want to have a chat with me in person or over Zoom before booking – give me a call or an email and we can set up a time to meet and spend some time talking through the packages and which one is right for you. Also I can walk you through my range of albums and show you how I would work wiith you on the the design process ...

jmc-weddings Engagement Shoot
An engagement, or pre wedding shoot is on offer to all our clients and is included in some of our packages.
We will then spend around an hour with you on the day of the shoot, taking some lovely informal shots of you and your partner.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to allay your anxiety about being in front of the camera, work out what works best for you and get to know me in person so that I am not just a guy behind the camera on your wedding day. You’ll have some lovely photographs to cherish too, which you could even use as a signing board!
